On November 3, 2025, Julie Downs Payne moderated a panel for the Estate Planning Council of Middle Tennessee. The panel, including BMI attorney Anthony Adewumi, CPA Mike Vaden, attorney Jonathan Motley, and Jars of Clay lead singer Dan Haseltine, discussed the current state of intellectual property in music.

Julie Downs “J.D.” Payne has been with Dodson, Parker, Behm, and Capparella since 2021, assisting clients in building and passing their wealth in the most advantageous way possible. She holds a Juris Doctorate from the Nashville School of Law and a Master of Laws from Villanova University School of Law. She is also a board member of the Estate Planning Council of Middle Tennessee.
