Nashville Public Library Approves Permanent Women’s Suffrage Exhibit; Margaret L. Behm among Organizers

September 19, 2018

The Nashville Public Library Board of Directors has approved a permanent collection dedicated to the city’s role in ratifying the 19th Amendment, which guaranteed American women the right to vote.  The exhibit, to be housed at the main branch library, will overlook the downtown streets where voting rights activists rallied during the 1920 vote by the Tennessee General Assembly that resulted in the U.S. Constitutional Amendment.

DPBC’s Margaret L. Behm is one of the organizers of the “Votes for Women” exhibit.  She is quoted by Nashville Public Radio in its coverage of the story.
