8/10/2010 - Harlan Dodson - Harlan Dodson has published the annual update to his text, Introduction to Estate Planning and Administration in Tennessee. The book, which reflects changes in estate planning and tax law as of July 2010, is a popular reference manual for both students and attorneys throughout the state.

9/1/2010 - Donald Capparella - Donald Capparella and Amy Farrar succesfully petitioned the Tennessee Supreme Court for permission to appeal in the case of Crowley v. Thomas, No. M2009-01336-SC-R11-CV.

6/1/2010 - Donald Capparella - Donald Capparella served as Editor in Chief in publishing the new Fourth Edition Editor in Chief of Appellate Advocacy: A Handbook on Appellate Practice in Tennessee (Fourth Ed. 2010), published by the Appellate Practice Committee of the Nashville Bar Association. Amy J. Farrar and Candi R. Henry served as assistant editors. The new Fourth Edition has abandoned the former Question and Answer format in favor of more treatise-like approach. The assistance of Mike Catalano, Clerk for the Appellate Courts, and William T. Owen, Staff Attorney for the Court of Appeals, was invaluable to completing the new publication, along with numerous other members of the bar.

6/1/2010 - Donald Capparella - Part II of Donald Capparella’s article “Premises Liability Law in Tennessee: A Comprehensive Survey and Analysis” was published in the Spring 2010 edition of the Tennessee Trial Lawyer.

12/17/2009 - Donald Capparella - Donald Capparella spoke at a continuing legal education seminar titled "Ethics and Professionalism: A Session from Ethics, Lies and Videotape, VII" sponsored by the Nashville Bar Association on December 17, 2009.

12/16/2009 - Donald Capparella - Roebuck Case - The Court of Appeals reversed a $700,000 final judgment in an auctioneer fiduciary duty case. Capparella successfully argued that the trail court had improperly certified a summary judgment based upon breach of fiduciary duty as a final judgment, returning the matter to the trial court for further proceedings. Brown v. John Roebuck & Associates, Inc., No. M2008-02619-COA-R3-CV, 2009 WL 4878621 (Tenn Ct. App. Dec. 16, 2009).

12/9/2009 - Donald Capparella - Laughlin Case - Donald Capparella achieved success on appeal in a negligent construction case involving Williamson County homeowners. The Court of Appeals dismissed all of the contractor’s claims for damages, and increase the homeowners’ damages for negligent construction, substantially reversing the trail court’s rulings against the homeowners. The Court also reinstated the possibility of personal liability for the contractor. This case could be an important construction law case regarding disputes over payment and construction defects between contractors and homeowners. Forrest Const. Co., LLC v Laughlin, No. M2008-01566-COA-R3-CV, 2009 WL 4723365 (Tenn. Ct. App. Dec. 9, 2009).

10/1/2008 - Donald Capparella - Donald Capparella was recently named the new Editor for the Tennessee Tort Law letter, a monthly newsletter providing commentary to the bar and the bench on the most recent leading opinions in tort law, published by M.Lee Smith Publishers and Printers. Amy Farrar and Candi Henry are the newly named associate editors.

9/30/2008 - Donald Capparella - Donald Capparella was lead counsel in two jury trials in Davidson County. In Swett v. Salem, Donald obtained a directed verdict in a commercial lease case, where his client successfully defended a breach of lease cause of action. In the second case Johnson v. Gann, Capparella was lead counsel defending an assault and battery tort claim, where the jury awarded only nominal damages in a work-related incident.

9/18/2008 - Donald Capparella - Donald Capparella spoke at two CLE seminars on tort and comparative fault issues to the Tennessee Association of Justice and also a seminar sponsored by M. Lee Smith Publishers and Printers. Capparella also was a co-presenter for a CLE seminar on Legal Ethics for the Nashville Bar Association.

9/10/2008 - Donald Capparella - Donald Capparella, working with Amy Farrar as co-counsel were successful in asking the Supreme Court of Tennessee to reverse the trial court and the Court of Appeals and reinstate a wrongful death case in favor of our client. 7/8/2008 - Donald Capparella - Donald Capparella has been selected as one of the Nashville Business Journal’s Best of the Bar for his appellate practice. He also received this award in 2004, 2005, and 2007.

6/26/2008 - Donald Capparella - Donald Capparella made a presentation on "Dewald, Boren, Huber and Beyond: The Impact on Your Cases" at a Medical Malpractice seminar hosted by the Tennessee Association for Justice. The seminar, entitled: The New Law and Beyond, focused on the changes flowing from recent Supreme Court decisions on medical malpractice law and how the change will impact clients and their cases.

5/29/2008 - Donald Capparella - The Court of Appeals for the Middle Distrcit of Tennessee issued and opinion in the case of Joseph P. Rusnak, et al. v. Gail Phebus. Mr. Capparella and Ms. Farrar were successful in asking the court to reverse the trial court's previous decision. Read the entire opinion here.

9/15/2007 - Donald Capparella - On Spetember 15, 2007, Donald Capparella participated in the Make a Racquet Tennis Tournament benefiting the Nashville Ronald McDonald House. Donald founded the tournament, and this year, it raised over $10,000.

8/1/2007 - Donald Capparella - Donald was one of three finalists for the Tennessee Court of Appeals, Middle Section, chosen by the Tennessee Judicial Selection Commission.

7/27/2007 - Donald Capparella - Donald Caparella was one of five Tennesseans to receive the National Legal Services Corporation Board of Directors Pro Bono Award for outstanding efforts to provide, or support provision of, free legal services to low income clients.

6/15/2007 - Donald Capparella - Donald Capparella, founder of the Shakespeare Festival, is proud to announce that 2007 is the festival’s 20th anniversary. Two productions, Merry Wives of Windsor and Two Gentlemen of Verona, are coming up this summer in August and September in Nashville’s Centennial Park.

3/20/2007 - Donald Capparella - Donald Capparella spoke at an audio CLE entitled Tort Law: Recent Cases Effecting Your Practice.

1/31/2007 - Donald Capparella - Donald Capparella and Cynthia Chappell, of Dodson, Parker, & Behm, P.C. won a verdict in the amount of $2,119,541.17 in Davidson County Chancery Court on January 31, 2007. Amy Farrar also assisted. This the result of a three day bench trial, in which Chancellor Claudia Bonnyman found the defendant insurance agents liable for professional negligence, breach of fiduciary duty, negligent misrepresentation and breach of contract in a procurement of life insurance case. The verdict included attorney’s fees and double damages under the Tennessee Consumer Protection Act.

1/5/2007 - Donald Capparella - Donald Capparella successfully appealed the dismissal of a $1.2 Million Dollar subrogation case. The Court of Appeals reversed the trial court and reinstated the case in the matter of Travelers Property and Cas Co. v. Terry, 2007 WL 49558 (Tenn. Ct. App. Jan. 5, 2007).

1/27/2004 - Donald Capparella - received The Kraft CPAs Board Member of the Year Award recognizing his work with The Nashville Shakespeare Festival.
